We are seeking a full time 1st Year Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team.

HTS is a family-owned and run business beginning as a one truck, one operator business in the early 1970s. We first started carrying steel in Port Kembla for what was then the BHP Steelworks. Since starting over 50 years ago, the business has grown steadily with a deliberate focus on Safety, Customer Service, Innovation, Flexibility and Sustainability. The company now has substantial contracts with Major Blue-chip clients in the Industrial Sector. Our current fleet comprises of over 200 truck and trailer combinations which consist of flat tops, tautliners, aluminium b-double tippers, aluminium dog trailers and a range of steel body tippers, excavators as well as front end loaders, plus a network of over 30 subcontractors. Our aim is ZERO HARM at all times. This approach starts at the Managing Director and goes all the way through to the frontline operators to ensure the safety of our staff, subcontractors, customers and the general public.
THE ROLE
The duties will include working alongside experienced and qualified mechanics to assist with:
- Working on trucks, trailers and plant machinery.
- Diagnostics and repairs.
- Maintenance, overhauls and servicing.
- Trouble shooting.
- Breakdowns.
- General workshop duties, stock collection and yard duties as required.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
- Mechanical experience desirable (working on family and friends cars/trucks).
- Drivers Licence desirable but not essential.
- Genuine interest in motor mechanics.
- Looking for a long-term career as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
- Reliable, hardworking and honest is a must.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Must be committed to learn and complete a 4-year apprenticeship.
