We are currently looking to engage passionate and enthusiastic individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds who want to embark on a rewarding journey as a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice.
Komatsu Underground will support you as you undertake four years of nationally recognised training, completing your Cert III – Engineering (Mechanical), while being paid to perfect your skills in our state-of-the-art workshops.
You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, equipment maintenance, rebuilds, and equipment assembly, as well as having access to a range of other learning and development opportunities to support your career both personally and professionally.
As an apprentice Mechanical Fitter, what will I learn?- Assemble, test, rebuild, and repair mechanical components of Komatsu’s range of underground mining equipment including miners, longwalls, roof supports and shuttle cars.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues on a range of specialty areas including hydraulics, machining, gearboxes, and electric motors with a rotation plan allowing you to see each workshop in detail throughout your 4-year apprenticeship.
- Read machine schematics and detailed equipment drawings.
- Implement and follow comprehensive safety processes and quality control measures.
- Gain skills and competencies on a range of hand tools, business skills, public speaking, and leadership.
- A genuine interest and passion for all things mechanical.
- A willingness to learn and a strong attention to detail.
- Driver's License and access to your own reliable transport to and from site.
- An interest in the Komatsu Underground business and our cool equipment.
- A commitment to fulfilling and successfully passing all practical and theory-based study requirements of your Apprenticeship.
