The Library is seeking to fill two Library Officer, Collection Retrieval and Delivery (APS 3) roles in the Reader Services Section of the Engagement Branch, on an ongoing basis.
THE ROLE
One of these roles will specialise in the Retrieval and Delivery of material from the Library’s three Offsite repositories in Hume and Mitchell.
Both roles undertake the same range of tasks, including:
- Retrieval and delivery of the Library’s print and special format collections from a variety of closed stack areas to the reading rooms or other organisational work areas.
- Refiling of requested items and filing of items recently acquired.
- Straightforward collection maintenance to ensure collection safety and efficient retrieval.
- Conducting shelf-checks, catalogue searches and escalation of issues impacting collection discoverability when appropriate.
- Supporting minor collection moves or enhancement projects.
The role is a physically active one, guided by strong Work Health & Safety requirements to carrying out a range of physical operational tasks including (but not limited to):
- PC-based tasks
- Lifting material weighing up to 10 kilos
- Pushing trolleys
- Retrieving material from high- and low-level shelving in motorised and static compactus.
- Work in offsite buildings will require the operation of stock pickers to retrieve items from high shelving and driving the Library’s delivery van. All furniture and equipment meets relevant WH&S standards.

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, a current driver’s licence and the ability to obtain a LO licence to operate stock pickers.
