Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) utilises Manpower Analysis and Planning Software (MAPS) to build and manage Operational Staffing Directives (OSDs) which define Service manning liabilities for Joint Operations, Exercises and Activities within Defence. DSN MAPS facilitates the nomination and force assignment of personnel for deployment on all ADF joint activities.
Working to an APS 6 Knowledge Manager, the APS 5Operational Data Support Officer will be responsible for providing administration of the MAPS system and data in support of User Acceptance testing, documentation of new functionality and user defined requirements, and extensive liaising with other ADF agencies and contractor support; to ensure the ongoing capability of the system to meet Defence requirements.
The role will aid in the coordination of the DSN MAPS & OSD training program, facilitate appropriate access to MAPS and support the integration of MAPS between HQJOC and the Services.
Once appropriately trained, the successful applicant would be called upon to aid in the delivery of DSN MAPS & OSD training – virtually and face-to-face, with occasional inter-state travel.
About our Team
The APS 5Operational Data Support Officer sits within the HQJOC Directorate of Personnel (J1), a joint environment that includes ADF members from all services, Defence APS members, and Contractors. The APS 5 position will report directly to the APS6 Knowledge Manager within Personal Operations.
The J1 Directorate manages the personnel support administration, preparation and execution for all joint and combined operations, exercises and activities, to aid in the command and management of the Support Branch, and is made up of a Personnel Operations section, and a Personnel Plans & Policy section.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would have experience working with complex data using database or Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). They would demonstrate attention to detail and an ability to communicate effectively when providing support or training to a varied range of Defence and civilian stakeholders.
They would be adaptable with the ability to learn new information rapidly, becoming a subject matter expert in the DSN MAPS system, and the deployment data stored within this system. They would have experience and confidence in taking ambiguous data sets and drawing out meaningful answers.
