The Payment Performance Branch provides policy advice on the payment practices and trends of large business, government business enterprises and government agencies impacting their small business suppliers. The branch also delivers initiatives to improve payment times for small businesses, as well as supporting the Payment Times Reporting Regulator in the administration of the Payment Times Reporting Scheme.
We are looking for talented and motivated individuals for our Regulatory Operations team, which manages the regulatory functions of the Payment Times Reporting Regulator, including:
• processing applications and statutory notifications for decision; and
• compliance activities, including investigations and enforcement.
The Regulatory Operations team also manages enquiries made to the Payment Times Reporting Regulator and engages in stakeholder liaison with regulated entities and others.
Key responsibilities include:
Compliance Officers (APS Level 5)
• Contribute to the Operations team’s implementation of best practice regulation.
• Assess less complex applications and statutory notifications made under the Payment Times Reporting Act and make appropriate and defensible recommendations to relevant decision makers.
• With limited guidance, action stakeholder correspondence and enquiries by undertaking timely assessments, making appropriate recommendations and drafting appropriate responses.
• Screen and make recommendations to relevant decision makers on the publication of payment times reports.
• With guidance, design or contribute to the delivery of projects, programs or investigations to identify non-compliance with the relevant legislation and contribute to advice to relevant decision makers on the use of statutory compliance powers.
• Quickly gain a working understanding of the relevant legislation and an understanding of how the legislation relates to the work of the Branch.
Compliance Officers (APS Level 6)
• Contribute to the Operations team’s implementation of best practice regulation.
• Assess applications and statutory notifications made under the Payment Times Reporting Act and make appropriate and defensible recommendations to relevant decision makers.
• Screen and make recommendations to relevant decision makers on the publication of payment times reports.
• With guidance, design and implement or contribute to the design and delivery of projects, programs or investigations to identify non-compliance with the relevant legislation, and contribute to advice to relevant decision makers on the use of statutory compliance powers.
• Action stakeholder correspondence and enquiries by undertaking timely assessments, making appropriate recommendations and drafting appropriate responses.
• Quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation and the practical implications of the legislation for regulatory oversight of the Payment Times Reporting Scheme.
• Develop and mentor others to build team capabilities.
