Our client is seeking to engage an APS5 Claims Manager Location: ACT Employment: 12 months, non-ongoing Eligibility/Security Requirement: Baseline security clearance or ability to obtain.
Position Overview
The Claims Officer works as part of a Claims team responsible for the management of worker’s compensation claims. Claims Officers manage medium to low risk claims including engagement with claimants, employers, and medical providers to achieve return to health and work outcomes. The Claims Officer reports to the Assistant Director, Claims.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.
- Apply a well-developed understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks to a variety of interrelated activities and solutions to a range of problems.
- As part of a team, deliver Claims management services in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets. This includes monitoring claims management activities and compliance with Comcare’s rules and objectives. Assist in coaching, guiding, and developing less experienced colleagues, as required.
- Manage medium to low risk claims in accordance with approved claim plans, make decisions based on sound judgement, expertise, and knowledge, and governed by the application of regulations and procedures.
- Escalate issues where required and drive claims to achieve desired outcomes.
- Undertake work that is moderately complex to complex in nature and operate under limited direction.
- Consult and advise internal and external stakeholders, anticipate, and respond to their needs and expectations.
- Act in accordance with Australian Public Service (APS) and Agency requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements.
- Support the connecting and integrating of claims management with other functions of the Group, Agency and across the APS.
Job Specific Capabilities:
- Experience in analysing information (particularly data), managing risk, and using judgement to inform decisions.
- Resilient, responsive, and collaborative with a commitment to individual and team outcomes
- Developed stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- Well-developed communication skills with experience in supportive communications and negotiating with influence.
- Experience working in service delivery operations.
