Our client is seeking to engage an APS6 Claims Manager on a non-ongoing contract for 12 months.
Position Overview
The Senior Claims Manager works as part of a Claims team responsible for the management of workers' compensation claims. Senior Claims Managers manage higher risk, complex claims including engagement with claimants, employers and medical providers to achieve return to health and work outcomes. The Senior Claims Manager reports to the Assistant Director, Claims and will assist with supervision of other team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Contribute to Agency's purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.
- Deliver claims management services in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets and contributing to successful completion of improvement projects. This includes monitoring claims management activities and compliance with Agency's rules and objectives.
- Manage medium to higher risk claims in accordance with approved claim plans including making decisions in line with a plan. Escalate issues where required and drive claims to achieve desired outcomes.
- Work across Agency and our client agencies, to focus on consistent claims management, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and better practice, and resolving conflicts.
- Act in accordance with APS and Agency requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements. Coach and mentor team members.
- Assist in supervising, coaching and developing employees, as required.
- Connect and integrate claims management with other functions of Agency and across the APS.
- Demonstrated experience in analysing information (particularly data), risk management and using judgement to inform decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a team through motivating, mentoring and developing employees.
- Resilient, responsive and collaborative with a commitment to individual and team outcomes
- Works under limited direction and is guided by policies, accepted standards and precedents
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- Strong communication skills with experience in motivational interviewing, supportive communications and negotiating with influence.
- Experience working in service delivery operations including in-depth knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks in order to provide objective advice and resolve problems of a specialised or complex nature
- Granted, or ability to be granted a security clearance at Baseline level.
