Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

As an APS5 member of the Home and Living Planning and Operations Branch your duties may include, but not limited to:

  • Gathering information from participants and their representatives to enable high-quality and evidence-based decision making to inform participant plans.
  • Reviewing participant plans to ensure supports align to current and future participant outcomes.
  • Communicating with participants and their representatives about decision-making when it comes to the participant pathway.
  • Resolving issues and complaints regarding participant queries and concerns.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, agency guidelines and regulations whilst contributing to meet performance targets

The NDIA anticipates various vacancies at the APS5 level within the various Home and Living Planning and Operations Branch streams:

Assurance Planning
The Assurance Planning Team was created to support the Agency’s commitment to reforms to deliver better outcomes. Through planning and assurance activities, the team work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive improvements in plan quality and ensure participants receive high quality plans that adhere to the NDIS Act and guidance in support of achieving their goals.

Budget Management Support
The Budget Management Support (BMS) team was established as part of the reforms to deliver better outcomes for our participants to ensure the Scheme is there for the future.
The BMS team undertakes discretionary check ins with participants who are identified as over utilizing their funding. The BMS team will conduct a check-in with a participant and provide education, implementation and frequent ongoing monitoring to support them to get back on track. In some circumstances, end to end planning will also be completed.

Home & Living Operations
Home and Living Operations (HALO) provides specialist and technical decision making and planning for participant requests for home and living supports in accordance with NDIA legislation, policy, and guidelines. HALO aims to assist participants by providing clarity on the Home and Living supports available to them and provide flexible funding to enable them to identify and access the home and living supports they need.

You will be asked to select one of the above Home and Living Planning and Operations Branch preferences within your application. This exercise will be used to fill current vacancies and to create an order of merit as future opportunities arise. If found suitable, your Home and Living Planning and Operations Branch preference will be taken into consideration however your skills, knowledge, experience, and interest may be aligned to NDIA priorities at time of offer.

Experience in the disability and/or allied health sector would be desirable however is not essential.
