Your new role
As a Senior Secretariat Officer, you will work with a high level of autonomy and discretion, as part of a small team across a breadth of work.
The work of the section is fast-paced and requires an individual with high-level administrative, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills; who operates at their best in a dynamic and quickly changing environment; contributes to team capability and culture; has strong attention to detail; and can manage multiple activities and competing priorities.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Provide high-level secretariat, event and technical services for the professional organisation and delivery of governance committees and consultative forums.
- Develop and maintain key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Support effective corporate governance and management assurance practices, ensuring compliance with applicable Commonwealth financial and legislative delegations, policies and practices.
- Prepare written material including correspondence, input to briefings, meeting minutes, agendas, reports and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop, update and maintain secretariat guidelines and procedures.
- Communicate, educate and provide advice to staff regarding the agencies' governance requirements.
- Display a high degree of personal integrity and professionalism, share skills and knowledge with team members and provide guidance and assistance to the broader team.
In addition, the key duties of the EL1 Assistant Director Secretariat role include:
- Provide strategic leadership to guide and mentor a small team to achieve high quality outcomes and continuous workplace improvement
- Coordinate, prepare and oversee more complex written materials, including business cases, Cabinet Submissions, Senate Estimate submissions, Ministerial and agency briefs, corporate documentation, as well as other duties as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate for this vacancy, you will have previous experience within the Federal Government, in a senior secretariat function.
To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a Baseline personnel security clearance or above.
