APS6 - Senior Compliance/Investigations Officer

people2people recruitment are currently working with a Federal Government Department who are seeking a dedicated individual to join their dynamic team as APS6 – Senior Compliance/Investigation Officer for a 6 month temporary assignment with scope for extension.

about the role

In this role, you will lead compliance approaches, investigation inquiries/matters into service providers, workers, and their response to issues of safety, well-being, and quality of services. The successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the relevant regulatory and commonwealth legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead compliance approaches and investigations inquiries into service providers and workers
• Conduct compliance monitoring and investigative activities to prevent and mitigate
• Liaise with government agencies and Taskforce partners, producing briefing papers with recommendations.
• Conduct quality assessments on briefings, administrative decisions, and use of statutory powers
• Implement and monitor the impact of regulatory action, including large-scale disruption activities
• Assist providers and workers in understanding their obligations and guide them in addressing non-compliance issues
• Undertake research and analysis to develop risk-based compliance and investigations responses
• Prepare complex correspondence, reports, briefings, and submissions
• Plan and monitor work processes for a small team, set performance indicators, and provide guidance to staff
• Conduct interviews, prepare statements and affidavits, and manage evidential material and confidential information
• Collaborate with Legal Officers and other advisers in the development of compliance responses and briefs of evidence
• Oversee compliance and investigations processes, ensuring standards of independence and professionalism
• Collaborate with other agencies or authorities and refer matters under the relevant jurisdictional law

Selection Criteria:

• Australian Citizenship
• Baseline Security Clearance
• Tertiary qualifications in law, criminology, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in compliance and investigations roles
• Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth) and relevant legislative requirements
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Excellent communication an interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead a small team and set performance indicators
• Understanding of good administrative decision-making principles
