The opportunity -
On behalf of our Federal Government Agency client, Complete Staff Solutions is currently seeking an experienced APS6 Senior Finance Officer. Reporting directly to the Property Finance Manager within the Property and Security Branch, the Senior Property Finance Officer plays a crucial role in managing financial activities related to property and security transactions.
Start Date: From June 17th 2024 (Subject to pre-employment screening)
Contract Duration: 12 Months, Until 17th June 2025 (Possible extension of 6 months)
Location: Canberra
Security Clearance Requirements: Baseline + Must pass a Police Check
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee month-end activities for various funding sources, including journal preparation, reconciliations, and updating forecasts.
- Assist in bi-annual budget development and management for Branch activities.
- Manage financial aspects of property assets and contracts relevant to Branch activities.
- Provide analysis and reporting to support Branch activities and ensure quality assurance.
- Offer strategic advice and assistance to Senior Executives and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and achieve outcomes.
- Contribute to business management practices and process improvement initiatives.
- Implement quality assurance strategies to ensure strong financial governance.
- Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering team capability development.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and associated rules.

Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Completed or working towards a Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Completed or working towards a CA or CPA qualification.
- Experience with TechnologyOne.
- Strong Excel capabilities.
