What you’ll do

We are looking for a permanent (full or part time) experienced Aquatic Ecologist with consulting experience and a passion for biodiversity. This position is fully flexible with the ability to work from home, remotely or from the office, with field work incorporated. This is an opportunity to work with a respected and knowledgeable team as well as being responsible for:

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking high quality surveys, data interpretation and assessments for projects throughout Western Australia;
  • Preparation of detailed survey reports, management plans and advice to clients, regulators and other stakeholders;
  • Leading field teams, coordinating budgets, resources and monitoring milestones to ensure project deliverables are met;
  • Processing of aquatic invertebrate samples within our in-house laboratory 

What you’ll bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science, ideally coupled with 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience sorting aquatic invertebrate samples to family level. 
  • Experience leading aquatic field surveys 
  • Working knowledge of the EPA guidance as relevant to aquatic surveys 
  • Experience in writing clear, concise reports and strong written skills.  
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement 
  • Competence to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion to create step ‘’change’’ in environmental best practice. 

Desirable:

  • Project management and budget tracking experience. 
  • BHP S26 Supervisor Certification
  • Ability to identify aquatic invertebrates to lowest practicable levels.
