The Company:

The company is involved in many facets of business with offices located in Perth and Sydney.  The Perth office is in central West Perth.  The company’s prestigious reputation is supported by the high retention rate of its employees. 

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Curatorial, the role is to ensure the smooth and effective operation of all administrative aspects of the Art Department.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the department’s  operational policies and procedures
  • Dedicated attention to the art collection database, including data entry, generating reports, checking, and collating information
  • Managing the asset valuation program including report preparation and liaising with valuers and updating the database and insurance program
  • assist in the determination and monitoring of department budgets
  • Co-ordinate the logistics and liaison required for artwork movements, together with agreeing terms of contracts with third party providers such as auction houses, international shipping companies, galleries, and other art institutions, consultants, and contractors
  • Experience in and understanding the current collection management practices
  • Understanding of financial processes and an interest in the numerical aspects of the assets

The Candidate:

This role requires a person who is reliable, enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organised.  Strong attention to detail is essential and experience in arts management and administration would be highly regarded but not necessary if you have the core administration experience. 

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability in a similar administrative role
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Excellent organisational, administration and people management skills
  • A solid understanding of financial processes including invoicing, general accounts, and contracts, with a demonstrated interest and competency in numerical aspects
  • Able to work in a fast paced and at times pressured environment with the ability to meet deadlines efficiently
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent work ethic, with positive energy and a consultative strong team member
  • Propensity to act with discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Good personal alignment with the corporate values of the company – Excellence/Accountability/Enterprising/Integrity /Respect & Community
  • Valid driver’s license
