Asbestos Laboratory Analyst, Sydney

Our NATA accredited fibre counting and asbestos bulk and soil identification laboratory is looking for a dedicated and experienced Asbestos Laboratory Analyst to join our HazMat Consulting team in Sydney.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take on a new challenge and responsibilities in a small laboratory carrying out unsupervised work. 

Our company specialises in asbestos and occupational hygiene consulting service areas. Part of the core services provided are the analyses of in-house asbestos containing materials samples, asbestos in soil samples and also air monitoring samples.

Core areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:              

• Sample receipt and quality control;
• Information management and analysis for asbestos identification (bulk and soil materials)
• Analysis of airborne asbestos monitoring samples by mount and count;
• Prepare Certificates of Analysis reports for in-house samples and external clients;
• Liaise closely with in-house staff and external client;
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; and
• Work closely with existing Laboratory Manager in managing and further development of in-house procedures and Asbestos Laboratory Quality Manual.

The successful candidate will have: 

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in similar role;
• Good knowledge of relevant Guidance Note, Australian Standard and NATA Guidelines and Requirements
• Attention to details and good organisations skills;
• Be professional, self-motivated and able to work independently;
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team;
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications especially Word and Excel;
• Strong organisational, and problem solving abilities;
• Ability to keep up to date with industry standards including changes in regulations;
