SCHOOL PRINCIPAL – THE MONTESSORI SCHOOL KINGSLEY


About Our School


Nestled in beautiful bushland on Whadjuk Country overlooking Lake Goollelal in Perth’s Northern Suburbs, 20 minutes drive from Perth CBD, The Montessori School Kingsley (TMSK) is one of Australia’s oldest Montessori Schools. Through classic Montessori education and International Baccalaureate Diploma and Careers Program, we guide our students aged 3 to 18 to embrace challenges confidently and become compassionate global citizens. Established in 1962 as a one-classroom school, TMSK is now a modern, multi-building campus catering for 180 to 200 students aged 3 to 18 years, with our new secondary school building scheduled to open in Term

One 2025.


TMSK is currently looking for a full-time Principal to lead our School into the next phase of development, while maintaining the core values of the School:

This is a unique leadership opportunity in a close-knit school community, working with dedicated staff, and supported by a strong School Board. This position is available immediately, with a start date negotiable from now to up to 1 January 2025, depending on the availability of the successful candidate.

Duties


The Principal’s responsibilities include:
• Provide educational leadership based on Montessori principles;
• Implement educational plans and School policies;
• Lead the efficient day-to-day administration of the School with the support of the current leadership team;
• Supervise and promote appropriate and regular professional development of all School staff;
• Recruitment, engagement, performance management, discipline and dismissal of all School staff;
• Operate the School budget within the constraints set by the Board;
• Oversee preparation of the timetable and all rosters;
• Guide the vision and direction of the School in line with strategic planning;
• Sustain and improve the School’s natural and built environments including ensuring School facilities are maintained in good order;
• Remain abreast of trends and research in education and relevant technology;
• Work effectively with the School Board, providing accurate and timely reports, information and advice at each Board meeting and as and when required;
• Accountability for the School's continued Registration and compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies
• Maintain positive relationships and regular engagement with the parent community, including presentations at parent discussion nights and other School events;
• Facilitate a culture of respect towards all members of the School community;
• Maintain and build relationships with the wider Montessori community, including Montessori leaders and educators as well as staff and student alumni of the School; and
• Promote TMSK's vision and values to prospective families to facilitate maintenance of continued student enrolments and waitlist for enrolment


Qualifications/Experience and Skills


Essential


• Montessori qualifications and experience;
• Strong commitment to advocacy for Montessori principles and education;
• Previous experience as Principal, Deputy Principal or other demonstrated leadership role;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking;
• Experience in strategic planning and realisation of outcomes;
• Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) Registration or relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualifications; and
• Current Working with Children Card.


Desirable


• Experience with the International Baccalaureate program;
• Understanding of and experience with the Western Australian Curriculum;
• Business management and administration skills;
• Innovative thinking towards technologies and new educational approaches; and
• Mentoring skills.


Other Eligibility Criteria


• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required to be eligible to apply for this position.
