ASSESSMENT & APPROVALS SPECIALIST

We are currently looking for Assessment & Approvals Specialist on a full-time 6-month fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. The candidate rate is negotiable pending on skills & experience. We are looking for an immediate start.

Role Purpose:

  • To support the business to identify safety, environment, quality and training (SEQT) constraints and requirements when planning and prioritising the development, maintenance and inspection of the network and the associated asset strategies.
  • To facilitate opportunities with external stakeholders to secure strategic network SEQT approvals and requirements for future growth, development and protection of the network.
Key accountabilities:
  • Support the development of strategic network plans, asset strategies, design standards and work programs that lead to improved SEQT outcomes.
  • Support the development of and actively implement SEQT arrangements and requirements that govern access to the network for the purpose of construction, maintenance and inspection and promote improved SEQT outcomes.
  • Support the business (Joint Planning Teams) in the preparation of long-term network strategies and development plans to ensure the early identification and consideration of SEQT requirements.
  • Influence the development and prioritisation of the Client’s near-term plan to ensure the required funding is available in the work program to facilitate safe outcomes and acquit gazetted commitments/ agreements with our Regulators.
  • Support the business to ensure safe outcomes are considered as part of any participative and integrated SEQT impact assessment and the production of the Client’s Network Development Plan.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external planning and infrastructure stakeholders to ensure the appropriate placement of our network assets, in consideration of our objectives.
  • Influence the development of State and Local planning schemes to ensure safe, reliable and affordable outcomes for the network, our workforce and the communities in which we operate, are considered, and by improving the planning and provision/ protection of network assets.
 
Requirements of the Job:
  • Prior experience in an asset management or networks business (desirable)
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental, environmental, heritage and statutory planning approvals.
  • Candidate must have bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, urban and regional planning, law or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of network corporations, linear infrastructure and/ or corporate Safety, Health and Environment teams.
  • Demonstrated ability assessing and mitigating SEQT risks in design and asset management related activities.
  • Familiarity with the statutory environment within which the business operates (desirable)
  • Experience with legal advice and escalation (appeal) matters (desirable)
  • Proven ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders in relation to SEQT outcomes.
