The Member Support Team is the largest team at the Commission, providing high quality professional support to Members. Using specialist knowledge of the Australian industrial framework, the team supports Members of the Commission dealing with a wide variety of applications and assists Members in meeting their statutory functions.Reporting to the Assistant Director, Member Support, Member Support Coordinators supervise and support a team of Associates in offices across Australia.They work closely with the Member Support Advisor, and fellow Member Support Coordinators, to deliver a wide range of professional support services to Commission Members, including through effective recruitment, professional development and performance management of Associates.Working closely with the Assistant Director, the Member Support Coordinator will also significantly contribute to the development of strategies and play a key role in national projects aimed at improving service delivery across all Commission locations.Other key responsibilities include the coordination of administrative support to Commission Members, maintaining a superior level of service to external parties and adherence to Commission practices and procedures.Duties
- Lead and manage Commission Associates, work collaboratively with other Member Support Coordinators, and the Member Support Advisor, as well as other key personnel with the Commission, to meet operational requirements and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain a high level of support to Members of the Commission and, in that respect:
- Work closely with Members and Associates to provide outstanding support essential to the successful operation of Chambers.
- Manage and coordinate Associate relief team, including allocating staff according to organisational needs achieving optimal resource utilisation
- Responsibly exercise authority delegated under the Commission’s Enterprise Agreement in relation to Associates, including, but not limited to, Performance Developments Plans, leave management, and the monitoring and authorisation of timesheets.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of core skills and capabilities of the team, including assisting with and/or organising training programs for Associates in collaboration with the Member Support Advisor.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding and performance management of Associates including ongoing professional development, coaching and providing guidance on Commission systems and processes.
- Work with the Assistant Director to maintain awareness of long-term strategic, political, or operational outcomes for the Commission and its possible impact on the Member Support Team.
- Under the guidance of the Assistant Director provide leadership and project management of initiatives in accordance with the Member Support Team work plan, with a focus on promoting improved work practices and consistency across Chambers and supporting key stakeholders to assist them to adapt.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Assistant Director and/or Director, Member Support and/or the Executive Director, Tribunal Support.
