The Role
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join us here at MLC Life as part of our Customer Finance team. The Customer Finance Team is accountable for the financial control of our customers' money and is part of the Financial Control & Reporting team.
The purpose of this role is to reconcile customer facing bank accounts and Money In and Money Out suspense accounts and to investigate and clear outstanding transactions.
This role is ideal for candidates who are looking for an opportunity to join a leading Financial Services Company in Australia during an exciting period in the company's long history whilst also building up their core accounting skill set. Your responsibilities will include:
- Period-end financial close procedures, including the preparation of:
- General Ledger reconciliations
- Adjusting journal entries
- Payment processing
- Data analysis - Working with various stakeholders across the MLC Life business to investigate and identify root cause of reconciliation items and implementation of an appropriate action plan.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be an individual who has a high attention to detail, strong communication skills and have a problem solving mindset. You are someone who has a drive to want to do the best by the customer always.
The ideal candidate is an individual who has previous experience in Accounts Payable/Bookkeeping and seeking an opportunity to continue their Finance career.
