About the Role
This position is a residential role based in Aurukun.
This position reports direct to the Head Cook and is responsible for delivering food services to clients and adhering to quality and food safety guidelines and minimising wastage.
Key Accountabilities
- Comply with operating procedures of kitchen and meals service according to Chivaree Centre Food Safety Policies.
- Completion of timely orders placed for food supplies Data.
- Provide and practice an individualised approach to client dietary requirements as directed by dietician.
- Manage and record client/customer complaints in a timely, friendly and professional manner.
- Plan, prepare and present nutritious meals ensuring timely delivery under the direction of Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Supervise kitchen staff ensuring Workplace Health and safety, hygiene, food handling and storage standards are complied with.
- Model, promote and encourage a polite and friendly service environment.
- Supervise the organisation of kitchen, food stores, fridges and freezers.
- Provide food safety induction for new staff members.
- Other duties as directed by Chivaree Centre Manager or their authorised delegate.
Selection Criteria
- National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
- NDIS Workers Screening or willingness to obtain
- Drivers Licence.
- Compliance with the Food Act 2006 and that this employee is the Food Safety Supervisor in relation to compliance e.g. SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervision or equivalent.
- Commercial kitchen experience of a minimum 3 yrs or qualifications in appropriate commercial cookery e.g. SIT30821 Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Experience working with older people or people living with a disability and understand their dietary needs is desired but not essential.
- Experience managing or working in a kitchen environment.
- Polite, friendly, reliable and hard working.
- Willing to undergo any further training relevant to Supervisors position.

- A salary of $65,000 to $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience plus superannuation

- 2 flights per annum to Cairns from Aurukun in accordance with council policy
- 8 days extra leave as Isolation Leave in accordance with council policy
- Relocation expenses in accordance with council policy
