The Y Queensland’s childcare services has been at the heart of Australian communities for more than 40 years, with our first early learning service opening in Brisbane in 1977 after we identified the need for childcare that focused on helping children grow in body, mind and spirit.
YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provides fun, stimulating and safe care for primary and secondary school children before and after school. At OSHC, children have the opportunity to participate in cooking, sport, music, art, dance and so much more.
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Coordinator to join our team at YMCA Seven Hill Outsider School Hours Care (OSHC). This is a permanent part-time position. Your working hours per week will be 34.5 hours during school term and 38 hours during vacation care time.
Your workspace at the Y
YMCA Seven Hill Outsider School Hours Care (OSHC) is located inside of Seven Hills State School, licensed for up to 180 children and we offer Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care between 6.30am- 6:00pm.
Our service has a brilliant relationship with the school and for this reason, we have access to majority of the school for our licensed areas. Our Educational Leader takes pride in developing programs aimed specifically towards our children’s interests which makes the them want to come back for more. Staff take pride in building strong relationships with the children, their families and other staff.
Our children and Educators enjoy working together to bring our inclusive space to life and ensuring our program is engaging with a range of planned and spontaneous play experiences.
Our service philosophy prioritises community and belonging, children’s agency and the importance of spontaneous, multi-age play in middle childhood.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this position, you will assist the Service Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the service and management of a team of Educators. You will receive support from a dedicated management team, consisting of the Coordinator, Senior Coordinator Area Coordinator, Regional Manager and the OSHC Manager.
As an OSHC Assistant Coordinator you will assist with:
- The development of quality programs;
- Manage the day to day running of the programs;
- Support the Coordinator with staff management;
- Ensure compliance with policy;
- Undertake administrative requirements;
- Work collaboratively with families and the school community.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Completed (or close to completion) of relevant qualifications in Childcare or Teaching (Minimum of Diploma in Children Services);
- Demonstrated experience in assisting with programming and a passion for providing quality childcare;
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining effective administration and correct documentation in an OSHC service;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain;
- Certificate of Suitability to work with Children and Young People (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.
- NQF knowledge would be advantageous.
