The Opportunity
We are looking for self-motivated and results driven leaders to join our Emergency Relief and Support Team.
As an Assistant Director Emergency Relief and Support (ERS), you will lead, manage and oversee a portfolio of emergency related activities. This will include developing and embedding a culture of confidence, performance and proactive collaboration between regional response and central ERS teams. You also will provide operational and/or strategic advice to Regional Executive and ERS Executive, together with other stakeholders, on strategy and/or policy issues within your allocated portfolio.
The portfolios include:
- Metropolitan and Regional Emergency Response and Support - you will lead all Emergency Relief and Support responses to emergencies across the State. As well as identifying opportunities of ongoing improvements to enhance the delivery of Emergency Relief.
- Strategy and Policy - you will drive and manage the strategic initiatives and policy development in the ERS Directorate and to inform, influence and implement State and Commonwealth policy, regulation, and procedures. You will promote development of collaborative partnering with agencies to build sector Emergency Relief and Support capability across the State.
- Capability and Preparedness - you will lead the capability, preparedness, and readiness activities to help ensure the Department and State able to respond to emergency events relating to the 28 prescribed hazards.
- Business Support and Systems - you will monitor and coordinate human resources, finances, purchasing, logistics, and system development processes within ERS.

There are currently 2 immediate opportunities available within the Team. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
