Position: Assistant Director Level: 5
Weekly Hours: 30 to 35 (negotiable)
At Grange OSHC, we offer Above Award Rate:
- 5% in the first year,
- 10% in the second year,
- and a generous 15% from the third year onward.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our dedicated team. As an integral part of our OSHC centre, you will work closely with the Director, two Assistant Directors, and our talented staff, contributing to the day-to-day operations and ensuring a nurturing environment for the children.
This is a permanent position made up of face-to-face shifts (7:00-9:00 am and 3:00- 6:00 pm) during the term and up to 8 hours/day during Vacation Care. Additional hours will be made up with dedicated administration time for regular administrative tasks, including compliance and QIP.
The rate of pay is per the Children’s Services Award 2010, with classification and rate of pay depending on your qualification and experience.

Grange Primary School, established in 1880, is a Reception to Year 6 school with approximately 694 students and has been serving the educational needs of children in the western suburbs of Adelaide for over 100 years. ABOUT OSHC
The Grange Out of School Hours Care Service (OSHC) https://grangesch.sa.edu.au/oshc/ is a well-established service provided by the school. We offer before and after-school care and vacation care for Primary School-age children.
With children’s needs at its core, we provide a safe and stimulating environment. Children are provided with opportunities that challenge and encourage them to develop their potential within a caring and supportive environment. All children and their families are treated as equal and valued individuals.
THE ROLE
- Work collaboratively with the Principal, OSHC Director, the OSHC Advisory Committee, Governing Council, and all other stakeholders.
- Ensure the Centre is compliant with all the regulatory requirements listed in the National Regulations and National Quality Standards, with a focus to provide an excellent level of education and care to the children.
- Ensuring the safety of children
- Supporting the implementation and participation of children in programmed and spontaneous activities
- Assisting in creating a calm, positive, organised, stimulating, and safe learning environment
- Communicating with parents/caregivers in ways that build trusting relationships
- Excellent time management, organisational, and record management skills
- Flexibility and an ability to adapt and operate effectively in a changing environment
- Availability to work regular shifts is required and flexibility to work more hours across school holidays
WHAT WE NEED
The successful candidates will demonstrate the following key qualifications, training skills and attributes:
- Diploma in Child Care/Certificate IV in Outside School Hours Care or equivalent qualification recognised as an approved qualification by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
- Applicants actively working towards any Early Childhood qualification may be considered.
- Knowledge of child development from 5-12 years.
- Knowledge of National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards and legislative requirements.
- First Aid and CPR Certificate - HLTAID012 / HLTAID004 or willing to obtain
- A current South Australian Working With Child Check (WWCC)
- Responding to Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN)
- Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs for individual children and groups of children.
- Relevant work experience including practical experience in implementing the National Quality Framework.

SELECTION CRITERIA
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability and willingness to contribute to the Grange Primary School ethos
- Sound communication skills, including effective communication with other staff
- Ability to assist with developing and designing educational programs that encourage student engagement.
- Sound student behaviour management skills
