Details: We are seeking applications from highly motivated person to fill the role of Assistant Director, Security and Emergency Management for a period of up to three months, with the possibility of extension. This position sits within the Security and Emergency Management (SEM) unit, The unit provides a range of whole of Directorate support services and functions and brings together core internal services such as protective security, asset security, and Emergency Management planning, support, and response.
As the Agency Security Officer, you may be required to liaise with TCCS Executives and staff, requiring a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality, as well as a highly responsive approach in responding to tight deadlines and managing expectations.
Within this role you will:
- Work collaboratively with all business units across the Directorate, ACT Policing, and other ACT Government entities.
- Lead and coordinate the Directorate’s Protective Security and Emergency Management Program through implementation of the protective Security and Emergency plans, policies, systems, processes, exercises, and assessments in line with the ACT Protective Security Framework and ACT Emergency Plans. Including the oversight and management of the Municipal Emergency Management Operations Centre.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the SEM team within TCCS, exercising sound people management skills and Emergency response capability.
- Prepare high level documents for TCCS Executives, including Ministerial and Cabinet responses, budget briefs and advice on security, Emergency Management and fraud issues.
This position requires participation in an afterhours on-call roster and respond to significant security or Emergency Management events in the capacity as the lead TCCS Emergency Management Liaison Officer as required.
Ideally, you will have the ability to:
- Demonstrated understanding and effective implementation and management of Protective Security and Emergency Management procedures and practices.
- High level written communication skills, demonstrated high level liaison and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and foster effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise workloads to meet changing deadlines.
- Experience in project management and/or demonstrated ability to deliver projects across diverse business units.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor Emergency Management plans, policies, and procedures.
- Experience in facilitating/delivering training and development of training content.
- Ability to work as a key member of a small team, manage and coordinating a large number of varied tasks, while upholding a high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a face paced, motivated team environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the TCCS Values framework, workplace respect, equity and diversity framework, workplace health and safety best practice and public sector requirements, with a particular focus on integrity.
