Assistant Director/Educational Leader
Permanent Part Time Position
Hours required: 30 hours per week – 4 days per week (5 days when Director is on leave)
Tuesday – Friday; Hours to be discussed with the candidate
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and management team to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of Centre operations. The role is a busy and varied one. You will provide knowledge and administrative support to the Director as well as assist in covering across all rooms if required. You will coach and mentor staff and step in and run daily operations when the Director is absent. At Carey Lane ELC we believe in the strength of working together as a team, with shared goals and aspirations, just like a family.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with team members and families
- Assist in the day-to-day management of the Centre
- Act as the Educational Leader two days per week (1 day on the floor mentoring and guiding educators and 1 day off the floor)
- Ability to act as Director in their absence
- Assist the Director with conducting centre tours and staff meetings
- Assist with rostering, administration and enrolments
- Processing new enrolments and obtaining relevant documentation to the family and/or children
- Managing staff records including assisting the Director with HR records, blue card processes, maintaining training registers and submission of timesheets to payroll
- Support the Director with recruitment, retention, training and engagement of staff
- Managing family accounts from attendance and charging fees to debt recovery
- Supporting the administrative function and procedures including purchasing and resources
- Ensure all legislative requirements are adhered to by understanding and applying government requirements which regulate the provision of care and education
- Assist the Director with the Self-Assessment Process and supporting the development of Quality Improvement Plans
- Create strong relationships and engage with the local community
Qualifications and Requirements
- Assistant Director/Educational Leader experience, within the childcare sector
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) together with the Early Years Framework (EYLF), The National Quality Standards (NQS) and QikKids (or similar Childcare Management Software) and Kindyhub would be highly regarded
- Knowledge and understanding of CCS
- Knowledge and understanding of Blue Card System
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, both verbal and written, including excellent attention to detail
- Intermediate computer and technology skills
- Exceptional knowledge of safety and wellbeing
- Ability to work in a busy environment with competing priorities
- Strong problem solving experience
- Current Blue Card
- Current Advanced First Aid and CPR; Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training
- Minimum Diploma qualified
