Mikarie Child Care Centre is the region’s only inclusive service, catering for children with and without a disability.
Based in Kirrawee, we are a multi-award-winning, long day care situated in a tranquil bush setting with a sensory garden. Our state of the art, purpose-built centre welcomes all children, families and educators and embraces and celebrates all cultures and diversity. We see every child as a unique individual with different needs and goals. We understand that not all children learn and develop in the same way and include and encourage everyone to participate in our programs.
About the role
We are looking for a passionate Room Leader/Assistant Director who shares our vision and purpose. As part of the Centre’s Operational Leadership team, you will deliver and maintain a high quality care that stimulates children and aids their personal development. You will be responsible for supervising other playroom staff and sharing your professional knowledge to improve practices.
- Ensure the environment of the playroom is highly stimulating.
- Meets standards, regulations and guidelines of the EYFS, such as the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning (CoETL).
- Provide high-quality resources and experiences for children which aid all areas of their development.
- Support good practices around Inclusion. (Ensure appropriate support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as well as those who use English as an additional language (EAL).)
- Communicate openly and effectively with the parents and carers of the children.
- Provide professional feedback about each child’s development and education on a regular basis, such as through a detailed Progress Summary Form.
- Ensure relevant information about the child is provided by parents regarding any allergies or special requirements they may have.
- Maintain good communication with local authorities and governing bodies associated with the nursery setting to ensure a functional and professional relationship.
You are patient, calm, friendly and a strong leader who is collaborative. You have a nurturing instinct and support the children in our learning community to explore the world around them, encouraging the development of strong relationships and engagement of families.
- ACECQA approved qualifications in Children’s Services
- “Identify and respond to children at risk” certificate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Committed to the rights of children with disabilities to be included in all aspects of life
- First Aid Certificate including Anaphylaxis, Asthma, CPR required (HLTAID004)
- Certificate IV in Disability will be highly regarded
