Assistant Farm Manager

What will I contribute? 

You'll assist the Farm Manager with the overall coordination and execution of the day to day farm operations to achieve the Company business plan. 

 Here’s what you’ll be doing: 

• Assign, manage and direct the work of employees/workers
• Provide instruction to workers and contractors in relation to vine/crop irrigation requirements, and manage and maintain related/associated records
• Monitor drainage systems and performance and adjust as required 
• Prepare and conduct fertigation applications as instructed by the Farm Manager and/or Agronomist
• Mix fertigation tanks to ensure correct application of nutrients to vines/crops and maintain accurate records/fertiliser manifest
• Conduct pest/disease/weed spray programs as instructed by the Farm Manager/Pest & Disease Scout and maintain appropriate records
• Manage workplace health & safety on site in compliance with applicable legislation and policy.
• Manage quality assurance on site in accordance with Company requirements. 
• Maintain farm equipment, engage external expertise as required, and conduct minor repairs and maintenance 

The role is based at Robinvale with accommodation provided. 

What do I need for the role? 

You’ll have:

• At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity on a horticultural farm
• Basic capability using the Microsoft Office suite 
• Previous experience working with farming machinery including set up, operation, basic repairs, and operation training 
• Demonstrated experience working with irrigation and nutritional programs
• Previous experience with the supervision of chemical applications
• Current forklift and driver’s licence
• Ability to comply with applicable legislation and Company policy

 A Chemical Users Certificate would be highly regarded.
