About the Role:
As the Assistant Hatchery Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of Baiada’s hatchery facility. Working closely with the Hatchery Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective hatching of eggs, managing a team of hatchery technicians, and maintaining the highest standards of biosecurity and hygiene.
In addition, you will:
- Supervise and manage the Quality Assurance/Quality Control program to ensure adherence to industry standards.
- Develop and maintain weekly hatch schedules, ensuring the timely provision of the correct number of birds to broiler farms.
- Provide direct supervision and guidance to hatchery workers.
- Monitor and oversee the maintenance of facility equipment, promptly addressing any maintenance issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends and information related to hatchery equipment and operations.
- Implement and manage the animal welfare program within the hatchery.
- Take charge of hatchery sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
- Manage activities related to chick care, maintenance, packing, and transfer.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ethical business guidelines and policies established by the company as well as animal welfare guidelines.
- Perform routine machine checking and calibration.
About you:
Drawing upon your previous hands-on experience in a comparable role, preferably within a manufacturing environment, you will have:
- Proficiency in working collaboratively within a team to troubleshoot problems or enhance systems.
- Prior familiarity and comprehension of Workplace Health and Safety Systems within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting routine safety inspections, managing workplace incidents and injuries and interfacing with regulators.
- Formal training in utilising computer databases and spreadsheets.
- A valid state driver's license.
