About the role
The role of the Assistant in Nursing works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure the provision of safe, effective and quality patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse at all times.
- Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Assist the Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse with patient care interventions as directed
- Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
- Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members
- Observe the patients physical, functional and psychological status and responses during the course of interactions within scope of knowledge and report all patient observations and changes to the Registered Nurse
- Document all interactions and responses in the patient clinical record
About you
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
- Cert III AIN Aged Care Nursing OR undergraduate nursing student currently enrolled in RN Tertiary Nursing Degree program OR undergraduate nursing student (completed first 12 months) currently enrolled in EN Nursing Diploma program.
- Interest and/or experience in the relevant specialties – Palliative Care, Rehabilitation or Specialist Mental Health for Older Persons
- Demonstrated literacy skills – reading, writing and comprehension
- Experience in working with people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and other language/ bilingual skills (desirable).
- Understanding of team work and knowledge of team member role
- Strong computer skills.
- Prepared to work rotating roster including night duty (minimum 2 shifts per week)
