About us
We are a equine and large animal practice with several veterinarians. Each of the veterinarians has a person who provides technical support. The practice mostly serves stud clients but our veterinarians see lame horses and all other ailments. As we see lame horses, candidates should be able to run to trot up horses, have strength to undertake flexion tests and horsemanship to control difficult horses. As we have a range of specialized equipment including digital radiography, ultrasonography video endoscopy, laboratory equipment and autoclaves, the role will involve the preparation, use, care and maintenance of our equipment. As the veterinarians are busy a substantial part of the role will be to support the veterinarians in record keeping and client communication. The role will require a person capable of learning to use our software program and able to communicate with clients Our business has a strong focus on developing and maintaining a supportive caring team
Qualifications & experience
- We do not require specific qualifications, however the role requires a person who has experience with horses and is willing and capable of learning a wide range of veterinary and administrative tasks.
- Must have a driving license and a vehicle to get to work
- Be prepared to work flexible hours including some out of horses emergency support
- Those who already have veterinary technical or nursing qualifications will have an advantage but this is not essential
- Experience in office administration is an advantage
- Experience in organizing and maintaining equipment
- Happy to prepare patients for procedures, comfortable with cleaning up afterwards
- Self starter who likes to work with some direction, but able to work unsupervised
- Must be a happy personality who is flexible, motivated and wants to be part of our team.
Tasks & responsibilities
- We are looking for horseman or horsewoman who are capable of doing a range of tasks from veterinary technical and nursing support, writing up records, managing drug orders and driving.
