About the Opportunity
We have two permanent employment opportunities for (Assistant) Irrigation Technicians (Level 1A - Level 2) in our Parks and Reserves team. As part of the team, you will assist in the works related to the effective installation, management and maintenance of City of Darwin's controlled irrigation and watering systems in accordance with the Municipal Irrigation Strategy.
Based at our Operations facility in Woolner, a standard day sees you starting at 7.30am in the morning and finishing at 4.15pm with a monthly rostered day off. You must enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable and capable of working full days in the outdoor environment that we have here in the NT.
As an Assistant Irrigation Technician, it is expected that you are flexible, reliable, accountable and able to work well with fellow team members.
To be considered for the entry level role you must:
Level 1A (and above)
General Construction Industry - White Card
C Class Drivers Licence - ability to obtain MR (18 - 24 months)
Level 1
Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
Certificate II in Irrigation or equivalent qualification and / or minimum of 2 (two) years relevant experience in commercial irrigation systems
Level 2
Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
General Construction Industry - White Card
Certificate III in Irrigation and / or minimum 3 (three) years' demonstrated experience as an Irrigation Technician working with commercial irrigation systems.
Demonstrated experience of coaching others in job skills
Work Zone Traffic Management 2 & 3
RIIWHS205D Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat
RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Management Plan

This entry level position has a base salary of $60,085.92 - $66,408.50 per annum, negotiable based on experience, plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as 6 weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave and a paid RDO each month.
