Contact Details: marg.burge@vba.vic.gov.auPosition DetailsThe Head of Safety and Wellbeing Operations, works closely with stakeholders across the VBA to build and sustain a positive safety culture across a diverse workforce.The role will develop and lead the tactical direction for HSW at the VBA and support senior executives with actionable insights in safety performance. The role is responsible for the operational safety aspects providing specialist and practical health and safety advice while balancing safety with operational delivery. The role is a true partnership with operations, supporting leaders to maintain and foster a safe workplace.The role is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of organisational safety strategy, and processes, and supports leaders to ensure that safe systems of work are effectively implemented to manage safety risk. The role is the contract manager for the VBA's EAP, Injury management provider and WorkCover support consultants. The role will monitor compliance with relevant HSW legislation and ensure that VBA is meeting its legislative obligations.Who we are looking for
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to interpret, provide advice on and apply relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) and the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (Vic) and associated regulations.
- Experience in managing complex return to work plans and processes and evidence of preventative strategies resulting in effective claims management.
- Proven ability to lead the development and effective implementation of policies and procedures which mitigates workplace safety risk and meets the requirements of the legislation.
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities for innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and taking responsibility for initiating outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working in complex work environment with multiple stakeholders with varying experiences and expectations.
