Summerstar has a position available for a part-time or full-time Assistant Manager, at the Bunbury Apartment Motel in Western Australia. By this, we mean that we will consider a part-time or full-time role depending on the applicant's skills and preferences. We may be able to adapt the role to fit your requirements.
Summerstar are a group of family-owned and operated Western Australian caravan parks, tourist parks and a Motel. We operate in the following locations:
Bunbury, Esperance, Eighty Mile Beach, Walpole, Margaret River, Busselton, Jurien Bay, Geraldton, Horrocks Beach, Kalbarri, Carnarvon, Broome & Tom Price.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Manager with Motel experience, a positive outlook and someone who will care for our staff and guests.
The position is for between 6 and 10 days per fortnight, managing the Motel in the absence of the Motel Manager. To be considered for this role, you must have Motel Management (or similar Management) experience and you must live within a 10-minute drive of the Motel. You will need to have a current driver's license and your own transport (to and from work). This is because you will also be on call for after-hours guest emergencies.
Duties include
- Ensure smooth operation of the Facility by managing issues as they arise and pro-actively resolving any issues, including maintenance, security, operations and OH&S requirements.
- Manage general office and administrative functions including reservation and reception functions related to guests of the Facility
- Manage the Facility’s grounds to ensure they are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition
- Manage housekeeping team and rostering staff, in consultation with the Motel Manager
- Night Duty on-call
- The role will include some financial, and human resource duties, including managing staff.
The preferred skills for this role are :
- Experience at the management level in the hospitality industry
- Excellent customer service skills
- Understanding of budgeting and financial management
The ability to work in a multi-faceted service environment with competing priorities. This is a customer-facing role and will involve making bookings, checking people in and out, and cash and EFT transactions using the RMS booking system (experience preferred but training will be provided to the successful applicant if you meet the other criteria). This position will suit an individual who is cool under pressure, able to work methodically and is highly efficient.
The position will see you dealing with all aspects of the Motel, not limited to just Reception. Other tasks may be required such as laundry etc. at times.
