The Employer:Situated on the Oxley Highway in the Gilgandra, Warren and Narromine Shires, our client's enterprise spans 5500 hectares and encompasses a diverse mix of cropping, sheep, and a small number of cattle. With 2400 hectares dedicated to dryland cropping, the portfolio includes wheat, canola, chickpeas, barley, and grazing crops. Complementing the cropping activities are 2200 head of Merino breeding ewes, a cornerstone of the livestock operations. Our client is committed to modernisation and efficiency, which is evident in their well-maintained machinery, superior fencing infrastructure, and recently constructed shearing shed. All mustering is conducted low-stress using state-of-the-art equipment such as side-by-side vehicles or motorbikes, accompanied by highly skilled working dogs.
The Role:
This unique opportunity allows for both experienced candidates and someone wanting to take their next step in a managerial role. We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join this successful team near Collie in Central NSW. With a high level of autonomy, this role is suited for individuals well-versed in cropping and livestock management eager to contribute to building something impressive.
As Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will include contributing to the annual cropping plan, determining the timing and scope of major farming activities, assisting in capex projects, and participating in setting strategic priorities for the business.
In addition to these strategic tasks, your day-to-day duties will involve:
- Operating plant and equipment for crop production phases
- Performing service, maintenance, and repairs of farm machinery
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting breakdowns
- Maintaining service records on machinery and setting overhaul priorities
- Implementing the annual cropping plan and maintaining paddock records
- Monitoring inventory and restocking supplies, parts, and tools as needed
- Participating in seasonal livestock operations and animal husbandry activities
- Monitoring pasture and livestock conditions and conducting routine maintenance of fencing, water infrastructure, and farm buildings.
