In this role you will:
- Be a key member of the management team that ensures delivery of Sentence Management Services as a state-wide function;
- Use your time and workflow management skills to supervise and manage various work units, individuals and systems to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of Sentence Management and sentence administration functions;
- Assist the Manager Sentence Management in monitoring staff performance and make recommendations on performance matters when identified;
- Ensure issues which arise as an outcome of sentence administration and or Sentence Management processes are identified and resolved in a timely manner including the formulation of reports and the development of practice improvement actions where identified;
- Contribute to the effective functioning of systems responsible for the state-wide management of cell utilisation including effective capacity utilisation and prisoner placement so as to reduce overall risk to persons in custodial centres;
- Make determination and approve prisoner decisions regarding planning, security classification and placement through the delivery of sound decision making and in accordance with relevant delegations and processes;
- Provide oversight and governance of Sentence Management and administration systems in accordance with department requirements;
- Maintain current knowledge and thorough understanding of legislation and practice directives relevant to Sentence Management service delivery;
- Ensure the appropriate management of information and the maintenance of privacy standards;
- Provide advice to centre management staff and stakeholders, in regard to the management of a prisoner's lawful detention, security classification or placement, prisoner planning and parole management;
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders;
- Model professional and ethical behaviour to all staff members, prisoners and stakeholders; and
- Demonstrate highly developed written and oral communication skills.
