The Assistant Manager - Training (Health Security Department) provides operational leadership and training to ensure the highest standard of functional service delivery and the achievement of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service strategic objectives.
The position is responsible to manage all department mandatory and role specific training and conduct continuous improvement principles/activities to ensure the safe delivery of contemporary, best practice physical and personal security services and emergency response coordination at the Townsville University Hospital campus and designated sites (Kirwan Health campus and the Joyce Palmer Health Service on Palm Island).

About the role
- Promote an organisational culture and leadership framework that supports contemporary, safe and best practice service delivery.
- Ensure that the department's HSO Training Framework is compliant with all legislation, regulation, Queensland Health (QH) and Townsville HHS policy, guidelines and procedures and applicable National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
- Maintain the department's compliance with the THHS Mandatory and Role Required Training Procedure.
- Develop and maintain training resources on contemporary and emerging clinical conditions that may impact the security-patient interaction (dementia/delirium, brain injury, mental health, autism, emergency department EEA presentations etc)
- The possession of a C Class motor vehicle licence.
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessing qualifiication, or the ability to rapidly acquire the qualification.
- CPPSEC3111 Restrain persons using handcuffs or the ability to rapidly acquire the unit of competency.

The Health Security Department comprises approximately 60 staff with the primary department offices, security control room and service delivery located at the Townsville University campus.
