Assistant Production Manager / Pastry Chef

New York Cakes is looking for a passionate and experienced Assistant Production Manager / Pastry Chef.   New York Cakes has been operating for more than 25 years and have developed a reputation for producing baked goods, pastries ,Cakes etc of the highest quality.  It is a senior position in our business.

The Assistant Production Manager / Pastry Chef is involved in all aspects of the production process, from pre-production planning, supervising our team of bakers who will create baked goods etc, and ensuring both the quality of the goods produced and the goods are produced on time.

The position is full-time, it will be based at Miranda and the indicative salary for the position is $70,000 plus superannuation.

Some of the main duties for the position of Assistant Production Manager / Pastry Chef as follows:

Production:

• Develop and manage the production department/process through the supervision of production and supervision of staff to achieve company objectives.
• Monitor daily production to ensure production quotas are met and targeted KPI’s are achieved
• Coordinate in selecting, orienting, training and developing competent people to ensure adequate staffing levels for effective performance.
• Developing, implementing and documenting improvements and strategies for constant improvement of systems and production.
• Monitoring product standards and implementing and updating quality-control programs.
• Control cost of production quality and sanitation

Human resources:

• Ensure a positive employee relation climate is maintained
• Monitor closely the performance of all subordinates, coaching and redirecting when necessary to ensure their continual development and the achievement of company goals and objectives
• Identifying training needs, establishing training programs for development and performance targets for training programs

Health and Safety:

• Maintain compliance with company polices, regulatory requirements and quality specifications, safety standards and sanitation practices
• Ensure that plant sanitation meets or exceeds the industry standards
• Champion of safety while influencing plant wide safety performance

Background

The successful candidate will need considerable management experience as well as significant technical skills.  Applicants with less than three years of relevant experience and appropriate qualifications will not be considered suitable for this position.
