Garlos Pies is an innovative and fast growing business located in Kingsgrove, Sydney. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this is a newly created position that will be instrumental in developing, implementing and maintaining efficiency targets on the Production floor. Additionally, this role requires a ‘people person’ who exhibits a high degree of emotional intelligence to manage, inspire and grow Garlo's workforce.
The Assistant Production Manager will excel by encouraging continuous improvement through their understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles and strong history of team performance management.
As Garlo's is a rapidly growing business, key initiatives in this new role includes:
- Management and assessment of current and future employees competency and capabilities.
- Facilitating introduction of new and innovative equipment (such as cobots).
- Daily and weekly throughput, wastage and labour reporting.
- Development of policies and procedures to promote cohesion between Production departments.
The Assistant Production Manager will promote HACCP, SQF, Meat Export, GMP, Safety/OHS, Garlo’s Policies and Procedures and support People & Culture initiatives to drive employee engagement.
Overseeing Kitchen, Pastry, Production Lines, Oven / Spiral, Wrapping Room and Packing Room, the primary responsibility is to produce goods of the highest quality by the most efficient means, utilising staff and equipment to the highest degree.
Responsibilities
- Drive Garlo's manufacturing safety initiatives.
- Analyse labour costing on all products and provide feedback on ways to improve production efficiency and reduce cost.
- Develop team leaders and drive accountability to reduce downtime on production lines to reduce direct labour.
- Review daily CCP/QCP paperwork and provide feedback to QA Team to improve trend analysis of recurring problems or chronic issues relating to either quality or efficiency.
- Continuous development and improvement of Process and SOPs.
- Roster and forecast direct labour to production value and manage actual labour and report daily on variances / labour budget.
- Training and assessment of staff, ensuring identification of 2ICs and manage succession planning / cross skill.
- Mentor employees into an effective team, with regular performance reviews and identification of high potential employees and development opportunities.
- Ensure maximum quality and ongoing reduction of waste and inefficiencies.
- Ensure processes, procedures, and recipes are followed.
- Deliver accurate and complete paperwork and ensure data is recorded and communicated in a timely manner.
About you…
To be considered for this role you will be known for your multi-tasking, ability to lead by example and your quality & safety ethos.
Ideally you will have:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Production Supervisor or Manager in Food manufacturing pr processing environments.
- A proven track record of sound people management skills and contribution to a zero harm and lean manufacturing setting.
- Experience leading a multifunctional team and collaborate and support multiple stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
- A natural willingness to actively engage and participate, teach and coach in a hands on manner.
- Experience with implementing continuous improvement projects.
- Well-developed and demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
- Solid understanding of HACCP, GMP & WHS policies and procedures.
- Computer literacy required, with knowledge and experience in Production, Warehousing, CRM systems advantageous.
