We are Bistro Papillon.
A busy inner-city French bistro looking for a passionate full-time Assistant Restaurant Manager with at least 3 years’ experience.
Our intimate restaurant seats approximately 35 people, with 65 pax max in 2 sittings. We are passionate people with long-term experience in the industry who pride ourselves on great food and excellent service. We're looking for a strong and charming individual, who loves food, wine and the hospitality industry.
You'll be working with and reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, who runs the front of house. In some instances, you'll be required to work alongside the owner and autonomously running the floor. This means you need to be able to work independently and always be on the ball. This is a fast-paced working environment and we're a small team.
Our little French bistro is a great environment, and we have an excellent work culture. We always include all staff in decisions about the menu & wine list and we encourage everyone to voice their opinions and recommendations. We're proud to say we're like a little French family, supporting each other and working as a team.
We're looking for someone who wants to work in a stable work relationship and is ready to commit to a long-term position as well as bring their entrepreneurial spirit to the job to help improve sales, operations and performance.
You’ll be required to:
- hold daily staff briefings before the service
- train staff to up-sell
- carry-out general staff training for newcomers and casuals
- assist with staff recruitment
- run the floor - answer emails and phone calls- coordinate bookings for events and private parties
- bring ideas for special events
- bring input into the wine and food offering
The ideal candidate is:- passionate- loves the hospitality industry- trustworthy- reliable- very motivated- engaged- able to manage floor staff - able to maximise and coordinate bookings- an excellent team player with good communication skills- hands on and doesn't shy away from hard work- able to think on his/her feet and adapt under pressure- knowledgeable in French wine and food preferred but not essential
