We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer – Operational Control Systems (OCS) to join our client, a major public transport operator. You will play a critical role in delivering key projects within their Annual Works Plan (AWP) by managing contracts, developing specifications, and ensuring project safety and compliance.
This is a six-month contract role with the opportunity for extension, offering a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Define project scope, requirements, and engineering specifications for project activities
- Oversee OCS engineering activities, including developing plans, obtaining type approvals, and providing technical expertise
- Define design requirements and review submissions to ensure conformance with industry standards
- Assist in developing and maintaining OCS standards, technical maintenance plans, and inspection/test plans
- Manage contracts and contractors, creating RFQs/SRFs, overseeing tender processes, evaluation, and awarding of projects
- Ensure compliance to internal works readiness process, safety standards, and regulatory compliance throughout project lifecycle
- Ensure project success by meeting financial, operational, performance, and reliability targets
Skills and Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or similar)
- Prior experience in a similar role (Project Engineer, Project Manager etc.)
- Experience working in rail or related heavy industries would be beneficial (e.g. track, civil, structures, road, defence, oil & gas, mining, power, utilities, telco, government)
- Good written and spoken English language skills, including the ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels
