This is a permanent, full time vacancy.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a member of the senior management team, the Assistant Superintendent Prisoner Management contributes significantly to strategic leadership, direction and management of the Prison to ensure all statutory and Departmental requirements and best practice service delivery standards are met. The primary objective of the Intervention Units is to provide holistic, therapeutic and trauma-informed interventions to rehabilitate substance addictions.
The Assistant Superintendent Prisoner Management is responsible for leading and managing prison officer staff and ensures; Security and good order in the Prison is maintained in accordance with its business plan, resource management budget, statutory requirements, and Departmental policy and standards; The material, health developmental, rehabilitative, and other welfare needs of prisoners are met; and Prisoners undertake reparative activities to the extent that is appropriate.
The Assistant Superintendent Prisoner Management will be responsible for the coordination and management of the Prison’s Interventions units, all prisoner management functions associated with the prisoners accommodated in these units and additional areas as designated by the Superintendent.
About you
To be successful in the role you will possess;
An understanding of contemporary practices and principles that apply to prisoner management and custodial services with focus on Alcohol and other Drugs, At Risk Management System (ARMS), Support and Monitoring Systems (SAMS) and Mental Health
Demonstrated extensive experience in managing prisoners in a maximum-security male facility (minimum 7 years).
