The candidate will collaborate with other Allied World staff to drive the GWP and profitability goals of the broader Australian Professional Lines portfolio.We are seeking someone who is willing to contribute to the strategy and direction of the business and would be best suited to someone who wants the flexibility and authority to make decisions within an agreed framework. They will lead and develop a team of underwriters whilst having a positive influence on the broader Allied World operation in Australia.Job Duties:
- Influence and execute the Professional Indemnity underwriting strategy for the Australian Professional Lines portfolio.
- Expand an existing portfolio of business by both developing existing relationships and with new prospective clients.
- Marketing Allied World products and value propositions to brokers in Australia.
- Be active in the general day-to-day underwriting function, including undertaking submission reviews, pricing analysis, setting of terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations.
- Act as an underwriting referral point making prudent referral decisions in-line with the Australian Professional Lines underwriting strategy and profitability targets.
- Oversee the Professional Indemnity suite of products, their development and suitability to market.
- Undertake people management as required and provide thought leadership and technical development of underwriters, particularly within the Professional Indemnity segment.

- Proven experience in Professional Lines.
- A strong technical knowledge base of Professional Indemnity, but with the willingness and desire to continue to learn as risks evolve.
- Strong existing relationships with key distribution partners in Australia.
- Attention to detail, excellent analytical skills and ability to exercise strong judgment.
- Maintains and values a high level of professionalism, integrity and trust.
- The ability to collaborate and be part of a team culture.
