The Assistant Water Treatment Operator will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Water Treatment plants commissioned to treat groundwater at the designated site(s).

A DAY IN THE LIFE 

This role will be responsible for assisting the lead Water Treatment Operator with a range of activities including:

  • Coordinating operation, maintenance, and repair of Water Treatment equipment and associated well field and support equipment. 
  • Planned and unplanned maintenance activities, and where required, manage subcontractors for specialised equipment service needs.
  • Perform and direct activities while ensuring that codes, standards, and Water Treatment objectives are met while being environmentally conscious.
  • Collect water samples and coordinate laboratory analysis.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical process equipment for initial diagnoses.
  • Operate and control Water Treatment process activities utilising an intuitive plant control system designed and built for the plant.
  • Be an integral part of our safety culture, approaching all aspects of work with a safety-first attitude.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members across Australia.
  • Be a self-starter, and plan and schedule work to meet required timelines.
  • Compile data for monthly operating report to in house management and client management.
  • Available for occasional off-hour remote monitoring and call-ins to troubleshoot treatment system performance in the event of equipment failure or unforeseen shutdowns (including weekends).
  • Observe and practice the company's WHS, Environmental and Quality policy, guidelines, and procedures. 
  • Report any quality, environmental, safety incident or hazards at work in accordance with established management system processes.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS 

To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • 2 years’ experience in Water Treatment operations (desirable)
  • Transferable related trade experience in electrical, HVAC, fitting and turning, or plumbing (desirable)
  • Licenses, certificates, and competencies such as first aid, forklift, working at heights, chemical handling etc. ideal, but not essential, as ECT2 will provide where a gap in the selected candidate’s training is identified. 
  • Confident in the use of hand and power tools to perform routine maintenance of the site, plant, and equipment.
  • Confident in the use of MS office software such as Word, Excel, as well as email.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
  • Be able to attain a Baseline security clearance, existing security clearance highly desirable.
  • Hold a current Australian Driver’s license.
