About the role:
The role of an Associate Adviser is to partner with experienced Private Wealth Adviser to learn and develop skills and knowledge in all facets of financial advice, wealth creation and investment strategy execution. The role requires business management skills and the ability to grow professional relationships to deliver exceptional service to new and existing clients in the pursuit of their financial and investment goals. The role offers a career pathway for New Entrants who wish to target progression to Private Wealth Adviser.
Associate Advisers will be required to undertake training and ongoing professional development as part of their education that will encompass (and not limited to):
- The fundamentals of financial markets
- Portfolio construction and asset allocation
- The principles of research and valuing a company
- Our compliance regime
- Prospecting techniques and processes to build a successful business
Upon completion of initial training an Associate Adviser will grow their portfolio and establish a career as a Private Wealth Adviser providing clients with a holistic approach to their finances.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete proprietary training in finance, wealth planning, investment strategies and products
- Manage existing portfolio of clients and prospect new opportunities through leads and referrals
- Collaborate with broader client advisory team to convert new business leads to clients
- Undertake research and accurately assess client needs, objectives, risk tolerance and formulate financial strategies for clients
- Service, retain and deliver solutions to meet client needs
- Prepare client file notes, advice, letters, terms of engagement and financial strategy documents
- Orchestrate activities to execute client wealth management plans
- Ensure client records are accurate and up to date
- Achieve gross monthly revenue targets set by Ord Minnett
- Achieve prospecting levels; face to face meetings with new prospects; number of clients opening accounts; signing of funds under advice or management and other set targets as set by Ord Minnett
- IT Proficiency in the use of systems, tools and platforms
- Comply with all regulatory requirements including licensing and registrations
- Attend and participate in all events and training days associated with the program
- Complete all assignments within the given deadlines
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
- Working knowledge of investment markets, managed funds and Australian listed securities
- Demonstrate the potential for building a pipeline and prospecting to clients
- Possess a passion for financial markets through professional experience or personal investing
- Ability to identify opportunities and contribute to the development of sound financial strategies and solutions
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, influence and engage with private investors
- Strong presentation skills to support business growth
- Eye for detail with exceptional organisational and planning skills
- Commercially minded with strong attention to details
- Continuous learning and growth mindset
- Drive to build a commission based business, within an established and respected Finance brand
- Adhere to Ord Minnett’s Values, Code of conduct and Professionalism
Qualifications:
- Must have a FASEA approved degree (e.g. Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning) and/or tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Business or related discipline
- Must be registered as a Provisional Adviser or a newly registered Financial Adviser (desired)
- Accreditation in Margin Lending and Superannuation will be well regarded, but are not essential
