About the Role
This leadership role spearheads Residential Services, managing a high-performing team to deliver critical services across University-owned residences. You'll collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and colleagues to elevate the student experience, ensuring high-quality services, compliance, and strategic alignment.

Expect to develop innovative solutions, provide expert advice, and contribute directly to achieving University Colleges and Residential Life's strategic goals. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on student life.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Strategy & Operations: Develop plans to achieve residential life goals and ensure a seamless student experience from choosing housing to living on campus.
  • Empower & Develop Team: Motivate and coach staff, foster a culture of service excellence, and equip them to exceed client expectations.
  • Drive Innovation & Collaboration: Lead continuous improvement initiatives, build strong partnerships, and identify opportunities to enhance Residential Services.
  • Deliver Results & Efficiency: Oversee financial management, ensure policy compliance, and optimise systems for smooth and efficient operations.

 

Who we are looking for
We're seeking a leader with strong financial management and business analytical skills and experience, the proven ability to build strong relationships, engage stakeholders at all levels, and influence senior decision-making. You'll possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, adeptly navigating complex situations with competing priorities. Your track record of driving business improvements and fostering a culture of continuous innovation will be a key asset.

You will also have:

  • A postgraduate qualification and professional accounting body membership (CPA or CA) plus at least five years’ experience in student accommodation (or similar) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performance teams, encourage a collaborative and effective work environment, and promote effective service outcomes across diverse staff groups through both formal and informal management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering high quality outcomes in projects or programs of organisational significance.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

The University Colleges and Residential Life portfolio is a newly created portfolio in Student and Scholarly Services that brings together all University-owned residential accommodation, including colleges, halls and accommodation facilities. This includes International House, Medley Hall, Lisa Bellear House, Little Hall and the Lofts at Melbourne Connect, as well as functions in the former Student Accommodation Unit.
