  • Base salary starting from $83,454 - $140, 586 + 17% superannuation (Pro rata)

The Sydney School of Health Sciences is seeking an Education focusedAssociate Lecturer/Lecturer (Clinical Education) who is passionate about improving health outcomes and health equity in the local, national and global communities through Speech Pathology practice.

An Associate Lecturer/ Lecturer (Clinical Education) is expected to make a significant contribution to the clinical teaching and learning efforts within the School, in a simulated or actual clinical setting with emphasis on providing mentoring and guidance to students. An Education focusedAssociate Lecturer/ Lecturer (Clinical Education) is expected to dedicate the majority of their contribution to teaching (up to 70% of their academic workload allocation).

Based at the Susan Wakil Health Building at the Camperdown campus, the Discipline of Speech Pathology offers both undergraduate and postgraduate Speech Pathology programs, and the established University of Sydney SPEECH clinic, which provides Speech Pathology Evidence-based Education in Communication, swallowing and Hearing (SPEECH) services to the local community.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to high quality educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes
  • apply professional knowledge and experience to inform teaching and learning practice
  • contribute to the education and administrative activities of the school
  • contribute to a positive workplace culture within the school
  • contribute to the strategic direction of the university
  • engage beyond the university (clinical and or industry partners)
  • work as an effective team member and, as required, coordinate units of study.

About you

  • a bachelor's/ masters degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology and eligible for certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia significant clinical expertise in any area of Speech Pathology
  • experience working in a clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform pedagogical practice
  • experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary or clinical environment, as evidenced by student education and skills development
  • proven developed knowledge and understanding of contemporary teaching practices and effective curriculum design
  • demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the provision of outstanding person or community-centred care.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
