About the RoleThe Associate Lecturer will be responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the College's Optometry topics using innovations in teaching practices and technologies, with support and guidance from a more senior academic. The role requires assistance in the design, development and review of topic and course materials with appropriate guidance from Course Coordinators and/or Senior Academic Staff. These roles will also provide support, academic counselling and professional advice to students concerning their studies, professional development, and career opportunities. You will also be required to contribute to community service and strengthen new and existing partnerships with external stakeholders that have potential for improved teaching, learning and research outcomes. In these positions, you will be concurrently engaged in practice as an Optometrist in clinical or community settings and will apply your understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, scholarship, and practice to ensure teaching is in step with contemporary practice. About YouWith your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of staff, students and industry stakeholders. Your natural ability to collaborate and engage with relevant external professional domains, will develop productive partnerships that can provide opportunities to students and promote graduate employability. With your comprehensive knowledge of industry needs, and demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, you will harness your high-quality written communication skills to contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while always demonstrating a commitment to high quality service delivery. To be successful in this position, you will have:As a minimum, satisfactory completion of 4 years tertiary study or equivalent qualification and experience in Optometry for the position of Associate Lecturer.Evidence of an independent contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education, including student assessment.Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Optometrist.An Optometry qualification which enables registration by the Optometry Board of Australia or allows admission to the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand (OCANZ) Competency in Optometry Examination.A qualification that enables scheduled medicines endorsement for a registered optometrist in Australia and New Zealand.You will also be required to hold and maintain a current membership with Optometry Australia.Please refer to the position descriptions for further information about the roles and responsibilities.
