Vision Eye Institute is the largest private provider of ophthalmic care in Australia. With 18 clinics across the country (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Mackay and Adelaide), we are ideally positioned to service a large number of patients in both metropolitan and regional areas.
Our Adelaide and surrounding clinics provides South Australian residents with a wide range of ophthalmic services, including the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, cataracts, pterygium, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, as well as more general eye conditions. The opportunityWe are looking for a full time Optometrist to work alongside our ophthalmologists to detect, diagnose and manage a range of ocular presentations. This role will consult at Tennyson Eye Centre and Seaford with ad hoc requirements to expand across other sites within our Adelaide portfolio.
Note: Part time applicants would also be considered
Key responsibilities include:
- Triage new patients and referrals
- Pre-operative cataract assessment including:
- General ocular health assessment (visual acuity measurements, intraocular pressure measurements, slit lamp examination, visual field testing, optical coherence tomography imaging and fundus photography
- Discuss surgery and visual outcomes
- Specific clinical assessments using ophthalmic equipment e.g. Zeiss IOL Master, Alcon Verion and iTrace (training provided)
- Post-operative reviews and follow-up
- Ongoing management and co-management of progressive eye diseases and disorders
- Reports and correspondence to relevant healthcare professionals
- Tertiary qualification in Optometry (and registration with appropriate board) and therapeutic prescribing qualification
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills (both verbal and written); able to build rapport with patients and healthcare professionals
- Strong proficiency across clinical ophthalmic assessments
- Ability to multitask, prioritise work and be a team player
- A willingness to learn, problem solve and be proactive
