The Opportunity
We are looking for a part-time (2 days per week) Optometrist to:
- Deliver Low Vision assessments to people who are blind or vision impaired, by assessing, planning, and prescribing magnification aids.
- Assist with the development and delivery of Low Vision Awareness sessions to raise awareness about the needs of people who are blind or vision impaired.
- Assess a client’s immediate and future service needs and link them to available services both within See Differently and to other external complementary services to ensure clients who are blind, or vision impaired remain an integral part of the community in which they live.
- Work across multiple sites.
We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in Optometry or related discipline
- Current registration with Allied Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Understanding of vision impairment and empathy for people who are blind or vision impaired.
- Knowledge of relevant disability legislation, duty of care and access rights.
- Ability to problem solve and work systematically to resolve issues.
- Ability to produce clear, timely and concise documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including health professionals, family members, carers, and other internal service providers.
- An ability to deal with people of all ages and understanding of the issues involved when working with elderly people.
- Current driver’s licence.
