Our Journey- The Day Treatment Centre at Dandenong Hospital
The Day Treatment Centre at Dandenong Hospital is 12 bed unit open Monday to Sunday. We are a busy and exciting area that provides pre & post-operative care to day surgery patients of many different specialties. Within our Day Treatment Centre we also have the endoscopy suite and day medical unit and are offering the opportunity to work across all areas. The Endoscopy Suite is a 1 procedure room department open Monday to Friday. We are a fast paced exciting area that provides Endoscopic procedures to patients from multiple units including Colorectal,
Gastroenterology & Respiratory.
A day in the life
In this leadership role you will work closely with the Nurse Manager to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the ward. No two days will be the same as you work within an established, friendly and supportive team environment, working closely together to care for patients along with providing opportunities for staff development and growth in areas that staff are passionate about.
This is a Part Time (40hours per fortnight), Fixed Term position for 12 months working a Monday to Sunday roster, No night shift required!
What you bring
With broad experience as a Registered Nurse, you understand the importance of patient centred care. You have a genuine interest in working and interacting with our diverse patient group, supporting them with daily functions.
Your strong clinical skills will be regularly demonstrated as you undertake complex discharge planning, caring for patients from diagnostic imaging post angiogram, port insertion or nephrostomy, Post-Operative care of patients from theatre until discharge, admissions and admitting patients from Theatre until Discharge
Caring for patients from diagnostic imaging post angiogram, port insertion or nephrostomy
Working with the infusion centre providing outpatient treatments including blood transfusion, bone marrow biopsies, ascitic tap drainage, infusions across specialties which include gastroenterology, haematology and oncology and to see that all patients are treated with dignity and respect whilst in our care. You bring genuine passion and interest to this unique environment.
With excellent communication and negotiation skills, you have the resilience to manage your responsibilities across a variable unit as part of a devoted team. At the heart of your practice is the patient and providing patient centred care always. You have a ‘Lead by example’ attitude, are proactive and have exceptional time management and critical analysis skills
You will also demonstrate;
- Previous leadership experience, essential
- Experience with Day Surgery and/or Surgical Nursing, essential
- Experience with Medical Infusions, desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi task and think outside the box
- Dedicated to safe best practice and quality care
- Enthusiastic, compassionate and able to work collaboratively
- Role model nursing excellence
