Job description

A magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River (Maiwar), Brisbane Powerhouse is a destination for contemporary culture and art. Our venue features two main stage theatres, three smaller performance venues, gallery spaces, two restaurants and bars (Bar Alto and Mary Mae's Bar + Kitchen), Powerhouse Store, corporate facilities and one of the best river views in Brisbane. Brisbane Powerhouse produces significant festivals and events, including Brisbane Comedy Festival, OHM Festival of Other Music, Night Feast, Vertigo, Dendy Powerhouse Outdoor Cinema and newly announced Melt Open.
Melt Open is an annual open access festival of Queer art and culture premiering in Brisbane/Meanjin, Queensland, Australia, from 23 October to 10 November 2024.
Born out of the success of Brisbane Powerhouse's Melt Festival, Melt Open takes pride in showcasing diverse arts and cultural events. With an expanded lineup of venues and artists, this destination festival aims to foster inclusivity, provoke thought and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community across the city.
As we ramp up for Melt Open, we are seeking an Associate Producer to be the contact for artists, producers, community groups and venues participating in the Open Access Program of Melt Open. This role will support, identify, and enlist artists, producers, community groups and venues to participate in Melt Open while facilitating services, programs, and resources for participants in the lead-up to their festival events.
To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for Melt Open's mission of celebrating Queer art and culture. You will have broad knowledge and experience working in the independent arts sector with an understanding of artists' needs coupled with excellent communication, planning, problem-solving abilities, and keen attention to detail.
We welcome and encourage applications from LGBTQIA+ individuals. Your unique perspectives, experiences, and talents are invaluable assets that contribute to our vibrant and dynamic workplace culture. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. To view a full Position Description, please visit our website. This role will close COB on 20 February 2024.
